Tho vacancy in tho Department of Agriculture for tho position of Director of the Livo Stock Division, which, was vacated some tmio ago by Colonel A. IL Young, has been filled by the appointment of Mr J. Lyons, who at present holds tho position of District! Superintendent of Agriculture at Auckland. Dr. ('. J. Reakes, Director* General of Agriculture, in discussing tho_ appointment, states that Mr Lyons had proved himself very sound not only in diseases of animals and stock, but also in regard to the- management of stock,. states a Press Association message from Wellington.
