PROGRESS OF IMPROVEMENTS. The Grounds * Committee of the Canterbury A. and P.' The bar has been removed from under the grand stand and the space occupied by it has been thrown into tha luncheon room. The enlarging of the kitchen has been practically completed. Matters relating to the appointments of the Juncheon room were discussed between the committee and the caterer and agreement was reached in respect thereof. The foundations of the large building behind the grand stand in which accommodation is to be provided for attendants on stock, and where the new bar will be Eituated, are well in hand. A portion of Jackson's creek, for a length of over 100 ft from the new entrance in \\ estenra street towards Lincoln road, is to bo covered over: the pipes have been laid and everything is in readiness for the falling in operations. .it.' The subdivision of the sheep paddocks has been put in hand; and over twenty l°?s*boxes have been provided for the light ■horses. Provided satisfactory arrangements cm be made, it was decided to dip the remaining one-third of the sheep ''wdles with Peterlineum. Prices are to be obtained for painting tho secretary's office, and for the erection of a, balcony on the building. A few small paddocks for the use of cattle have been provided. . I "With regard to the gift of Messrs R. Jvairn 1 and Sons of £2O worth of trees and shrubs, it was decided to recommend that some should be used to replace trees on the Lincoln road frontage, and along AVestenra street, also that some should be planted frcm the Canterbury Meat Company's building to the riorno boxes; for this portion it is suggested , that ornamental shrubs should be planted.
