AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
MEETING OF CENTRE. " A meeting of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last night. Present: Messrs C. S. UrCullv (in the chair), W. C. Fle.vellyn, H. K Cross, C. JI. Taylor, jun., G. (.). Lockwood, and A. L. Lewis. Kcplving to a request from the .secretary regarding negotiations concerning a tour of New Zealand by Jackson, Hcholtz, and 11. Osborne, American Olympic champions, the New Zealand Council wrote stating that the Association now had an American representative in the person of Mr G. Krogness, and any arrangements concerning forthcoming tours of athletes from the I.'.S.A. would have to be made through him. The sub.icct_ matter of the communication from Sir C. IS. Thomas, who had met Scholtz in Honolulu, «nd had found that he was willing to tour New Zealand, was <|i,ilc unofficial, and was conveved 10 Mr Krogness, who recommended that "the invitations be held in abeyance until after the university meetings next mouth, and until such time as "he forwarded a report thereon. The letter was received. The meeting discussed the attitude which Mr F. Wilton" the Centre's delegate on the New Zealand Association in Wellington, had taken up with regard to the granting of permits to proprietary bodies, and it was decided,- on the motion of Mr Cross, seconded bv Mr Flewellyn: "That Mr Wilton be asked, if he is not prepared to follow out his instructions regarding the issue of permits to proprietary bodies, to resign his position as delegate to the Canterbury Centre-'"
