"NAME THE MAN."
A GREAT CAST. The all-star casts have now firmly established themselves, in motion pictures. The public is the real reason for tho all star cast, for it is the public that the producers try to satisfy. Motion picture patrons of a few years ago were satisfied with seeing ono good personality on the screen. They attended shows that advertised their favourite star. During the last year the public has becomo more exacting, demanding that each player, regardless of his importance, be a polished actor, thoroughly competent. One of the most notable casts of the year is the one selected by Victor Seastrom for his production, "Name tho Man!" Goldwyn's screen version of Sir Hall Cainc's "Tho Master of Man," which conies to Greater Crystal Palace and Evarybody's Theatre next Monday for a week's screening. Mae Busch, whose work in "The Christian" was hailed with acclaim by the 'critics and public, plays the part of Bessie Collister, the leading character in this latest Hall Caine Btory. She has a wonderful insight into tho soul of any character she portrays because of her vast experience, having worked in all types of pictures from comedies to intense drama. Conrad Nagol, who appears opposite Miss Bnsch in the role of Victor Stowcll, tho Deemster's son," has a long string of successors to his credit. The old Deemster of tho Tsle of- Man, Douglas Slowel), is portrayed by Hobart Bosworth, a veteran actor of the screen, whose najnc has graced the theatre lights for the past ten years. / Patsy Ruth Miller, one of tho youngest members of tho Goldwyn stock company, is cast in the role of Fcnnella Stanley. She is remembered for her remarkable work in "The Hurielibark of Notre Dame." Aileen Pringlo, who plays the leading rolo in Elinor Glyn's "Three Weeks," a forthcoming Goldwyn production, takes tho part of Isnbcllo in "Name the Maul" Crcighton .llnle is another young actor of ability in the picture. He is cast in the part of Alick Gcll, friend of Victor Stowcll. Before entering motion pictures ho was a favourite on the English stage. Hale lias played, featured roles in most of his recent productions. De "Witt Jennings, Evelyn Solbie and "Winter Hall are familiar to screen fans. On many different occasions they have been credited with "stealing" the picture in which they appeared. William Orlamond, Lucien Littlefield, and Cecil Holland, three expert character actors, have excellent roles in "Name the Ma.nl' Stardom is a thing of the past. Most of theso people would have been classified as stars a few years ago. Many of the best actors of the ' screen find themselves featured in ono picture and a minor me'mber of the cast in another production.
