GREY POWER BOARD.

LAST NIGHT'S MEETING. (SPECIAL TO "VKC PMSIS.") GEEYMOUTBL, June 22.

Ths Grey Power Board met to-night. Present—Messrs D. Tcnnent (chairman), W. Leitoh, H. G. Carter, J. W. Greensjadc, J. O'Brien, M.P., H. Duggan, C. Udd4trom, A. Robinson,' and J, Lythgoe, engineer.

A letter was received from the Greymouth Harbour Board, advising that it agreed to lcasa land in Grcsson street for a etore ut £35 per annum. Tho Acting .District Railway Engineer advised tnat the cost of a railway siding at Dobson .would bo £1167 15s, exclusive of formation work ior back ehunt, and supply of ballast. Tho work had- been put in hand.

It was resolved to divide the accidont insurance when tho current policies expired between the South British and New Zealand companies, and to distribute fire insur otneo auiong tho companies represented iD the town.

The secretary 3 paltry was increased io £-3 a week, and it was resolved to pay him 10s v, week lor rent of office.

The contractor for the power house reported that it was hoped to ejrpedito the construction work. Thirty-ono men were, now employed and ehifts woro working on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. A great deal of delay had been caused by the Railway Department's failure to construct the siding promptly. The chairman reported that tho work should bo completed within & month. Beach gravel was being brought by special train from Ra-pahoe. The contractor's letter w.ia deemed satisfactory.

Tho contractors for pole 3 advised that the contract would be completed and delivery mado before tho due date.

Tha engineer was authorised to make arrangements for the issuing of a, propaganda booklet. .

Tho engineer was instructed to advertise for a. canvasser with » knowledge of electrical installations at £5 10s a week, and for a storekeeper at £5 a. week. It was resolved, in view of the objections of tho Railway Department &nd Po3t Office to tho proposed route from Dobson to Greymouth, to make an inspection en July 4th. It was agreed to purchase a Fordson tractor at £328, a Maxwell car at £330, and a T.evland motor lorn- at £740.

The tender of Sctheran Bros, for goods Etorc at £1439 was accepted.
