CRITICISM RESENTED.

The Consul-General for Greece has written to the Premier traversing the criticism of Greek immigrants by Mr T. A. Ferry, Royal Commissioner on Alien Immigration. He .claims that Greeks are industrious and thrjftv, and warmly denies the allegations that their premises are insanitary, also the charges of immorality in certain cases. He stated that lie intended to forward to the Greek Government a. comprehensive report on the whole matter. [The Royal Commission on immigration stated, inter iil'R, that the Greek immigrant was a menace to the comnuinitv in which he settled, and that it would be a benefit to the State if his entrance, were altogether prohibited. Mr Ferrv suggested stringent regulations, and stated that "foreign immigration seemed to be largely induced and controlled by seliish, -unscrupulous interests entirely .outside of Australia."] _____
