ARBITRATION COURT.
SEAMAN COMPENSATED. John Robert Stone, seaman, of piraedin, has boon compensated by tho Arbitration Court for an injury he received while working for the Union Steam Ship Company. The Court gave judgment for Stone for £3 9s 8d a weelf. for sixty-five woeks from Juno 4th, 1924, to September 3rd, 1925, and also nllowod li'im a lump sum for povmnnent partial incapacity equivalent to £1 6s 2d a week for l ■ -iw ■ ,etner with £1 medicnl leo tn<l £lO 10s costs. 1 Stone was injurod in an accident on* tho Xavua On Juno 4th, 1924, wlieu lie was struck by a cargo derrick. ' Ho» recovered from his • iujuries, esccf>t that he suffers from diplopia, or double vision, owing to an involvo ment of the nerves and muscles that control his left eyd, and from traumatic neurasthenia, which is disappearing. The only permanent effect of tho accident is diplopia. Both eyoß are quite sound, but Stone c?n use only one eye at a time. Ho ib an ablo seaman, but cannot follow his former occupation, although he may obtain employment on vossels or asitoro. Ho is fifty-two years of ago. When tho claim was heard here, Mr W. ,7. Hunter appoarod for tho plaintiff and Mr "\X. J. S(m for the company.
