A plague of mice is being experienced in the Wannata district at tne P 1 ®" sent time, and thousands of the ntue rodents have been killed recently by farmers is ay 8 the Auckland "ctar At one homestead numerous traps were set, and 90 mice were caught in one day. iNo reason can be assigneu for the invasion, but the mice are thipk in tho fields throughout the whole district. During the last few weeks hundreds of mice have been caught m different homesteads. One amusing storv is told ot' a farmer who had purchased some concentrated chicken spico to mix with the fowl food. He lett the package in his car for a night, and, on returning the next_ morning, found' dozens of dead mice lying around. They had attacked the package, and the concentrated food, which isT largely composed of cayenne pepper, bad proved too much for them.
