"RESTRICTIONS ON TRAVEL."
TO THE , EMTOB OF "THE PHBSS." j Sir;~i-I have read with great interest your article headed as above in today's issue, and I am genuinely dis- ; tressed to hear that Mr. John Fuller, of theatrical fame, has" been "inquisitioned" and "inconvenienced" by New Zealand's Customs and Health Departments, and actually been prevented from landing hero • without question and hindrance. Dear, dear! Really these theatrical philanthropists who visit our shores purely for our profit and pleasure are being shamefully treated!' How different it iB in Australia! He can land there in flve.miuntes without let: or! hindrance! Justfancyh Of course,.l-wouldn't for one single moment suggest that this latter fact is the reason that Australia is so rapidly becoming ." Americanised j" "Bolshe....viked,"- and; ; "push"-ruled. Still, thoughtful people might peo some . grounds for. this ibelief, and the fact that our tight little country is keeping itself "clean" from-such, influences by the restrictions complairied,of by Mr 'Puller may also'be regarded as significant. L wonder if Mr Noel Lyons will land v , ahi Australia.as easily as he has bean "flung, buV-of New Zealand. He certainly should; if entry is as easy as Mr Fuller suggests. Aa,for myself, I have been/ I shall bp. again, sub- '■.'• "jdcted' to J tho inconveniencescomplainad of,, so long as our dear little country is ':■: kiqpt f ree.from:dis'ea^e-andundeSirables. May the: Government ; tighteri up these "restrictions, oven' 1 at the risk of incon- ■ - vehieneing onr- theatrical magnates ; (f) -'■ <—Yours* etc:,
