REDCLIFFS BUSH.
REQUEST FOR PRESERVATION
The Hon. Sir B. Heaton Rhodes, Minister of Defence, and Lady Rhodes, accompanied by Colonel R. Young, O.G. Southern Command, visited the Redcliffs Rifle- Range yesterday morning, when the Minister met a deputation from tlio Redcliffs Eurgesses' Association, which made a request concerning the fencing ofl some native bush at the- hack ,of tho rifle range. The deputation consisted of Messrs* S. P. Marshall (president;, J. O. H. Newbery, J. A. Russell and J. A. Rudge (secretary), and was introduced by Mr J. McCombs. M.P.
Mr Marshall welcomed the Minister and thanked him for his visit. The Association, Mr Marshall said, asked to have the strin of native bush in the valley at the "back of the range fenced off from- stock. The Minuter expressed sympathy with its desire to preserve the bush, and stated ho would interview the Minister of Lands on tho subject. He had every confidence that the request of the Association would be granted and that fencing would be supplied, tho Association supplying the labour. A vote of thanks was passed to the Minister for the interest he had shown in the question.
