NO HOPE OF SETTLEMENT,
\ST CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COITRIGIIT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.2. CABLE ASSOCIATION.)-
MELBOURNE, June IS
"When calls wero mado for watorsirlers to unload cargo from tho tho steamer Monaro thero was no response, and all efforts by the Melbourne Steamship Company to sccuro labour were futile.
Any possibility of reaching a settlement of tho present maritimo dispute is discounted by tho determination of tho shipowners to seo tho troublo through. Tt is not regarded as likely that rvolunteer labour will bo sought to unload tho Monaro at tho present juncture.
SYDNEY, Juno 13
Tho real reason for tho holding up of the Howard Smith steamer Time was tho refusal of tho owners to insert in tho now articles a clauso guaranteeing tho wages and conditions of tho old award. The- vessel will be tied tip indefinitely.
On gonoral lines tho disputo is identical with that which occurred on tho Monaro in Melbourne.
The articles of many ships expire on June 30th and an extension of tho troublo is then expected.
