COMPLAINTS.

Criticism was directed at the City Council at last night's nißeting of the Addington Burgesses' Association, at which Mr T. Falkindei; presided.

Dissatisfaction at the Council's failure to assist Association in the improvement of the Jerrold street reserve was expressed by several members.

"I think they look upon, the thing as a d—<— nuisance," declared Mr E. Parlane. "They're always talking about reserves, and yet they don't take any notice of it. ft wouldn't be tolerated in St. Albans!" "Some of the trees are dead in the approach to tho reserve," said Mr F. Mathieson. "You could, almost fill a sheet of foolscap on complaints about tho band rotunda," remarked Mr Mathieson. "It hasn't been painted since it was put up." ■ . ' ' "I think you could write a whole newspaper about the' neglect of Adciington!" Mr Parlane said. . "I think it's a shame," Mr G. Herd stated. "The reserve has been there for fifty years.or more." Eventually it was unanimously agreed to send a letter to the Town Clerk asking • that - the band rotunda be painted as well as tho rail fences, suggesting that a belt of trees be planted around tho resevvo and enquiring if tho Council would consider subsidising seat'for seat for the improvement of tho reserve.

"You want to rub it in." said Mr Mathieson. "There's no harm in complaining." "It would i)C a good thing if a letter was sent to the Council telling it about the rotten pot-holes in the roads in AdclitiGton," said tho chairman. "It's a disgrace!" "Nearly all the roads are in a disgraceful 'state," said Mr Mathieson. Tho chairman: I don't mind paying rates if wo get some improvements done in the district.

"I'll swear, they don't spend any here." stated Mr Parlane. "They collect them and spend them somewhere else."

Members agreed that a letter be sent to the Council pointing out the bad condition of the roads in Addington.
