Tho prediction made in certain quarters here this morning that the sitting of tho Fusion Conference might bo brief was not fulfilled. The Conferonce met at 2.30 p.ni., and after sit' ting all tho afternoon, had reached no definite agreement. The meeting will, bo continued to-morrow.
It is understood that so far tho proceedings have been quite amicable, but this does not necessarily mean that definite arrangements for fusion can be made this side of a General Election, The members of the conference are bound in honour to say nothing for publication, and it has been agreed that at the end of the meeting only an official statement will be supplied, to tho Press.
