NORTH BEACH NOTES.
Jn spile of tho cold weather and muddy roads, there was an exceptionally good attcrdar.ee at a. meeting of the ,North Beach Gala, and Foreshore Improvement Society, held in tho Surf Pavilion. The object cf tho meeting was to makes arrangements for the final stage of tho recent Queen Carnival and ihc official opening of the new memorial building. Very encouraging reports were received regarding- the issue of tho society's debentures, £151) having been subscribed to date. It was decided to employ Mr Macdonnld to cauva.is for the balance it is wished to issue. The ladies' commiltco reported that Mrs .Hulme had agreed to take charge of tho Coronation Ceremony. The contractor fur the building having- given an assurance - that the building would be ready for occupation in four weeks' time, it was decided *o hold-the official • opening on July 18th. The arrangements agreed on were that the Coronation Ceremony should take pla.ee first, to be followed by a concert and d3nce. The Tvork of the school was considerably ■upset recently through some children having tampered with the locks of some of the doors when school was closed for the night. The senior scholars had to spend a day working under adverse conditions in the shelter eked.
