At the enquiry into tho Tavorton railway disastor Henry Cook, driver of tho leading engine, said ho did not know of.the disastor till the Westinghouso brako pulled tho train up. He sent tho fireman back to find out what was tho matter. Tho two engines would tend to deaden the effect of any dragging. Tho road was usually rough in several places, which was due to tho slocpors not being properly packed.
