SIR CHARLES FERGUSSON AS GRAND MASTER, (raiss association wleobam.) AUCKLAND, Juno 18. Tho Governor-General, Sir Charlea Fergusson, has consented to accept nomination for tho offico of Grand Master of tho Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand, rendered vacant by tho death of M.W. Bro. W. P. Masscy. Sir Charles Fergusson's installation will take place at Duucdin in November. (SOCIAL TO "THE TBESS.") AUCKLAND, Juno 16. Sir Charles Fergusson was a Freeman of some prominonce m tho uiq Country. His actual election and installation to tho head of tho Craft in New Zealand will take p.nco at tho annual Communication of tho Grand Lodge of New Zealand in Dunedin m November. In the meantime Mr J*. It. H. Bichniond, of Groymouth who was elected and installed as DepoQ Grand Master at the Communication in Auckland towards tho end of and on whom tho function of Grand Master devolved through Mr Masse} a death, will continue to act as cniet ° Only twice" before in the- 3o years' existence of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand has tho representative of his Majestv held tho position of Grand Master. The late Lord Plunkot filled the chair from 1906 to the tune of his departure from Now Zealand in UOJ, and Lord Jollicoo was Grand Master from 1922 to 1924. When a vice-regal Grand Master is installed in any of the outlying parts of the Empire, "it is customary to associate with him a pro-Grand Master. "While Lord Plunket was in office this rank was held by the late Mr I. C. Binns, of Christehurch, for the first two years and by Mr Oliver Nicholson, of Auckland, in the.second term, in the time of Lord Jollicoo tho pro-Grand Master was tho Hon. L. Michel, or Holutika. . ~ . , , On the present occasion the right of nomination to the offico of pro-Grand Master will,' according to tho custom of the New Zealand constitution, belong to the Auckland Masonic Province, which in the ordinary course of- even© ■would have been entitled to select the Grand Master for the coming period.
