CHRISTCHURCH SPORTS CLUB. Amateur boxing is booming in Christchurch, and the Christchurch Sports Club is cjtering for the young boxers a;) i 3 suggested oy the programme arranged to given in the Caledonian Hall on TuesTay next. Most of the boxing schools have large attendances and the quality of the sport provided is as good as ever. A great opportunity will be for aspiring Jack Dempseys to prove their metfie, and the sport is sure to be fast and furious from the start. The sporting public appreciate good amateur bouts, and" therefore it is reasonable to suppose that a record crowd will fill the Caledonian Hall when proceedings commence. Besides the good programme of amateur events, an extra attraction has been arranged and there should Be a ding-dong go when T. Harris of "Wellington meets T. Long of Christchurch. Both have shown good form and though Harris will be the heavier man, the connexions of Long fully expect him to win. Popular prices will be charged, and as the ■ Caledonian Hall provides everything in the way of comfort those present may ]ook forward to an enjoyable entertainment.

Hill weakened and at the end of the found his seconds throw in the towel. . The difference in years stood 'irowerh in good stead. HEENEY WINS AT CAPE TOWN. CAPE TOWN, June 15. Tom Heeney (13st 81b) and Johnny Squires (12st 6lb), New Zealand and South African heavy-weight champions respectively, met in a 20 throe-minute rounds bout. Fighting up to the 17th round was unexciting, with occasional heavy bouts. Heeney then, tried for a knock-out. In the 18th round both slipped] to the floor and Squires' failed to come up in time, and the decision was awarded to Heeney; The pair "previously met at Johannesburg, when Heeney won on points.
