SCHOOL OF FORESTRY.
DEMONSTRATION NURSERY. An interesting development In connexion'with the School of Forestrv at Canterbury College 'is the steps that have 'been taken to form a model demonstration and experimental nursery, some, particulars < regarding which, were obtained by a reporter, from Mr C.-E. Foweraker, the lecturer-in-charge. Mr Foweraker stated that' the model, demonstration and experimental nursery was being laid out oh one of tne Canterbury College reserves in Opawa, in the.vicinity of the Technical College Girls' Hostel. The area iB about a quarter of an acre'and the nursery is to be used in connexion with the instruction given,, at. the School of j Forestry. It is intended to prepare seed beds of different types'and p> sow certain conifers and eucalypts suitable for growing under conditions ruling 'in Canterbury. Although primarily inr tended for teaching and experimental work, a considerable, amount of Btock will be raised at the nurserv which will be used, probably, by the College authorities in planting some of the reserves held by the Board of Governors. At present the ground at the nursery is being got ready for sowing ■ in. the spring.
