SHUNTING ACCIDENTS.
A.S.R.S. ASK FOR ENQUIRY.

A meeting of-the Amalgamated Society of Railway Serranta unanimously passed the following resolution:— "That this meeting of the A.S.R.S. desires to draw the attention of vho Government to,the increasing number ; of shunting accidents oh the -railway*. "VVc belicTo that these accidents an* i largely duo to" bad lighting'and the , sneoding-up of the services, together with increased traffip, causing, congesr i tion in the different yards, which tan ; no longer with safety to' shunters accommodate the rolling stock. A pub. I lic_ commission v of enquiry; .in our ' opinion, should bo held to enquire into the conditions under which shunters II are working.'*
