MEETING OF COUNCIL.
The' Council of .the Automobile Association met yesterday. Present—Messrs B. Falck (chairman), F. "W. Johnston, • H. C. Harley, A. Freeman, J. V. de Beer„_ R. W. Lochhead. A. D.' f)obs»n, K. Kennett, E. Macartney, H. G. Livingstone, W. R.. Carey, and Dr. P. Stanley Foster. One hundred new membcis, were elected, making 1079 eince the last annual meeting.. Tho total . membership is now 3341.. A' letter was received .from Mr J.. V. de' . Beer stating- that the Ashburton Borough Council had decided to enforce ths by-law- regarding speeding in the precincts of- tho borough. " 'lt was decided to request members to drivo through the boroogh at a leasonable speed, as required by the by-laws. It was decided to bo represented at the dinner to be tendered hi 3 Excellency tho Governor-General to-night by the Chamber of Commerce. ■ . ' ' ... The matter of eending representatives' to the West Coast to visjt branches of the Association, which has been before, the Council on other occasions, was again' discussed, and Mr H. C.
