CHILD BURNED TO DEATH.

—♦ (press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, June 15. Mrs Bailey, ii. -widow with four children, left her home at Tawa Flat with the youngest to visit Wellington. The other three remained in the house; they were aged three, four and five. At 8 p.m. the place was seen to be in flames. A youth named Mexted, with great difficulty got in and rescued one child. A neighbour saved, another, but it was not known that there was a third. Later on. a charred body was--found in a position suggesting that the child had been suffocated while trying to escape.
