CASUALTIES.

About lunch time yesterday a Normal School bov. Tom Kowlton. was passing Tretheivey and Berry's monumental works in Victoria street, when pue of the monuments fell, crashed through the fence and knocked the boy down, the stone falling on his legs. The injuries which he received were not serious.

Using Treasury notes as an advertising medium by'stamping names and addresses on them has become a practice among certain firms in the North of England. One boot firm has been doing this for some time, and the recent arrival of a tailoring company has been heralded by the appearance on the backs of £l'and 10s notes of their name and address in largo type. Th»i Treasury apparently has no means of preventing this, but a note defaced of badly mutilated would probably be refused as legal tender. If the practice became extensive it is possible that the Treasury would take some action to prevent the stamping of notes.
