RIFLE SHOOTING.
♦ — ■ PENINSULA ASSOCIATION. At the annual meeting of the Banks Peninsula , Kine Association, Mr Geo. Pettigrew presided over a email attendance. • Before commencing business, the chairman referred in sympathetic terms to the ddath of the jl.i. Hon. W; F. Maesey, and on his motion, the sympathies and condolences of the Association were extended to the bereaved widow and family. ' The annual report and balance-sheet yore adopted, the. hvtter : showing a small credit. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr Geo. Pettigrew (re-elected); vice-president, Mr D. McKay; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Mould; committee, two representatives from each affiliated club. It was resolved that shield matches commence on June 25th, and to hold the championship prize shoot after the second shield match. -Messrs D. McKay and J.' Mould were deputed to inspect the butta and to have necessary renovations carried out. The chairman remarked that there were only two club 3, Wainui and Duvacchelle, represented at the meeting. It appeared that interest in rifle shooting on the Peninsulawas on the wane. At one timo there had been five active and enthusiastic clubs. He trusted that things would improve. Ho hoped to see the Pigeon _ Bay Club enter the competitions again this season. Votes of thanks were accorded last year's officials. A donation of two guineas from the president was received with thanks.
