It was decided to ask the Railway Department that a coloured light semaphore be placed at the High street crossing, and that the • Department be:requested to widen tho entrance gates to .the station.. . ; The chairman of the Finance Committee' reported that the £BOOO, loan for -the . new Town Hall-• had been . obtained from. the Ohristchurch Tramway Board at-68 per,cent, for twenty years. ■ s It was decided to call for tenders for the work, It was also resolved to spend £BOOO, as it was impossible to complete, the hall for £6500, as - Btipnlated at a - former public meeting. i.. - The - Mayor. intimated that the Mayor of .
