CHARABANC OVERTURNS.
SEVEN PICNICKERS KILLED. (bi cable—press association— copyriqht.) (australian and n.z. cable association.) LONDON, June 10. A charabanc, taking York municipal officers to a picnic, overturned on a steep hillside and fell 30 feet into a moorland stream called the Devil's Bridge. Five men and two women we're killed and were injured, Before descending the hill the driver of the charabanc dismounted and asked the passengers to block ;the rear wheel with a stone, but he lost control in descending and the, charabano crashed through the high parapet of the bridge and landed upside down, pinning ita> occupants as in a cage in the water. The frantic shrieks from the imprisi oned men and women were maddening to the excursionists in the other charabancs, who. were helpless to rescuo them.
Finally a charabano rushed to Skipton and brought back a crane.
It was a marrvol that the loss of life was not greater.
