At the monthly meetirj* 'of .'.the Elniwood School, Committee thcjo >;-were:-present-Messrs • KT. Wood (chainrian), Eoh'rey, Cookson, Bortbwick, Larie, Pcako, • Ookeriddri, and Purncll • (secretary). Tho , treasurer's report showed-a balance of £l7 10sr lid in hand aftor setting aside tho amount required for a parado prround. It was decided to requisition ir the Board for tables and chairs for- tho ■infanta' school, and also for dual desks in lieu, of the • obsolete long desks-'in two'of'lhe class rooms.. It was. also decided .to..endeavour to. arrange with' tho Board to have the doorways at present exposed to. tho southerly wipds either closed or ecrceaed off, so as to prevent tho discomfort now existing in certain of. the classrooms; and to have windows put in the eastern: wall of a, classroom in tho brick school in' order to admit ftunligbt. Tho headmaster's report showed that the roll number was' '615--and .the averago attendance 570, being about fl'J jrcr. cent, of ro!l number. A motion supporting the Citizcus';Bible-in-SchodU Propaganda Committee-: in iti efforts to introduce Bibhvreading ; n"schools 'was defeated. In order to raise funds fdrßencral school improvements, etc., ,tho -cqnrmittee .decided to organise bridge and euchre .parties ana concerts,, and to, enlist the co-cperation of the teaching staff.' Messrs Gckenden, Cooison. and Peake -were appointedi»;-Concert.Com-mittee. • Tho -.chairman ire>>orted that-., the. deputation . to, the .Board regarding the installation of a proper heitinc fctstcm had been favourably received; and the matter had now .been referred to the Bcparlment for attention.. •. • ;■:■, .' •■■ -;.;;. * '■
