WELLINGTON'S MILK SUPPLY.
(press association IBLEOHAM.) WELLINGTON, June 11. The Wellington Suburban Farmers' Association and the City Council- came to grips over the Council's recentlypassed by-law requiring certain roturns to be furnished by the farmers, covering their operations. At tho Association's annual meeting a report, after declaring the Association's desire to reach a settlement, stressed that tho Council's Milk Committee was trying to harass them in every way possiblo, and breathed defiance of the rule's tho Council might impose. It was pointed out that the farmers could,not live on the prices offered by the Council. One speaker declared: "Another battlo is coining." The by-law- to which obection is taken requires the farmers "each month to supply verified details of the milk: sold in the city.. Leading business firms and hospitals in the-ei±y,lit was.' contended,, took nearby .farmers? milk;; in preference to, the.municipal supply. >^
It'.was decided that ho returns should he furnished, ans that, if necessary, :thb Association should make a test case of any." action brought against members by: the City Council.
