The average person who takes his Sunday afternoon walk along New Briglnion beach or basks in the sun after his pleasant bathe is little aware of the -variety of small creatures that s.re his comrades in his ♦recreation. Some of these strange animals were exhibited by Mr G. W. Bennett dur-' ing his lecture on "The Fauna of New Brighton Beach," delivered before the Philosophical i Institute at ' Canterbury College on Wednesday evening. Two other papers were read, 'one by Professor Wall on "The Vegetation of Mount Pee'.," and the other by Profes3or H. Speight, on "Quartz Pebbles in New Zealand Coal." * Professor H. J. Denham presided over an attendance of about twenty-five members.
