PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the Society was held on Tuesday, when Mr T. W. Rbwe presided over an attendance of 33 members and friends. Mr Howe reported on the great success of tho last field day held at tho old' Government Buildings, Whon ten members spent n most enjoyable afternoon photographing, the interior and exterior of the building. As a result of tho neld day,, a largo number of prints were brought along for-the. inspection of' other members. The president 6poke on the lecture to be given, namely, "Iceland," This is the second sot of slides" that have been loaned by Messrs Butchers, of London. A map of Iceland was thrown on the screen, and the lecture pointed out the route taken on this tour. Many beautiful scenes were included among the elides, and at the- conclusion of the lecture all present agreed that it hnd been most interesting.-. A heaity vote of thanks was accorded Mr H. B. Wilkinson, who provided and operated ~the lantern.- The. subject for the monthly competition was "Industrial Subject," eleven prints being-entered. Mr Harding, who was elected judge, made the following awards:—Prints: J. L. Martin 1, 2 and 3. Enlargements: T. W.. Row© 1, and 2, J. L. Martin 3. At present the membership rests at 40. Members were urged to bring along their friends to the meetings, and get them to join u»e. Society. Supper was dispensed.
