aires on batureuy. in spite of the arrangements made by the. Wcstland Sub-T, T nion. Conway (president), K. W. Macpherson, M. J. Scott, R. T. McMillan, T. G. Harper, H. D. Jones, Templeton, J. S. McClelland, Stafford, H. Gardiner, Harris, W. E. Cox," J. ii.. Rostail, J. S. Simpson, F. J. Mottram. The Canterbury Rugby Union wrote asking Where, the Sub-Union would desire a match, to be played in the event of the Union sending a team to Ellesmerc. ' The president reported having nominated tho Leeston ground, and his action was approved. The Ashburton Sub-Union asked whether June 27th would be convenient for a ctuilength match for the Dc.largey shield. Delegates spoko in favour of playing other representative matches before meeting Ashburton. There should bo no burry in play- j ing the shield match. It was decided to reply suggesting July 18th as a suitable date. Mr Conway was appointed manager of the El'.esmere team. Tho North Canterbury Sub-Union invited E'llesmere to name a date for * senior match at Oxford, and a junior match as a. curtainraiser. It was decided to suggest Thursday, July Oth. The following suggested programmo of dates for representative matcbos was drafted: July Stb, Peninsula; July 18th. Ashburton (Delargcy phield); August loth, Hurunui (Delargey shield, in the event of the shield still being hold by Ellesmere); August 00th, North Canterbury; September sth, Canterbury: September 12th, Malvern (the match would be put forward to August loth if Hurunui is not played on that ~iy). Mr Scott asked that the match with Peninsula.' should be played on the Lincoln College ground. This waa agreed to, provided permission can be obtained. Mr 11. Gardiner was appointed manager of the team to meet Peninsula. j Mr J. H. Restall entered a protest on behalf of the United Club against the decision of the Taferce in the. SouthbridgeUnited third grade match. If was alleged that a Southbridgo player had scored a goal undefended, the other players having misinterpreted a signal, and had ceased play. It was decided to ask tUc United Club to forward its protest in writing, and to invits tho referee to state his ca3e at the next meeting of the Sub-Union, when the matter would be dealt with. It was mentioned that there had been comment at the end of last season on the fact that College players had not been permitted to play in representative matches after tho College term holidays. It wa3 thought probable that tho same rule would apply this year, which would mean that if College players were selected in representative games in the early part of the seasm, fbeir places would have to be. taken later by men who were not in training for representative football. Mr Harris moved that, since {lie SubUnion was given to understand that College players would not be available. For all representative matches, the. representative t*ani should be picked only from clubs other than College. * Mr W. E. Cox seconded fße motion. The president thought that this, would be a drastic step against the College Club.. Mr It. T. McMillan moved.as an amendment thnt the College Club should be asked ■to state its exact position with regard to representative football, and whether or not its players would be available for all representative matchea. The amendment was carried. _ It wns decided to make allocation of footballs to schools' teams as in previous years. A grant for this purpose has been made by the Canterbury Rugby Union. Mr J. S. Simpson, president of the Referees' Association, undertook to bring before, referees the necessity of sending in to the secretary of the Sub-Union all teams in matches refereed by them. 'Mr J. H. Rsstall, on behalf of the United Club, applied for the nnnual seven-a-sid* tournament to be pTayed at Springston. The request was held over undl a date for the tournament was fixed. * ASHBURTON SUB-UNION. The weekly meeting of the Aahburton County Kugby Sub-Union wa,s held last evening. Present—Messrs W. F. Watters (president), H. J. Chapman, li. Grieve, it. W. Beaumont, M. C. Sogers, J. C. C. McLachlan, R. H. Loy, B. H. Biggar, A. E. Clarke, A. Thomson, M. Timmings, J. Smith, W. R. Tucker, A. A. Fooks, I). Timmings, and N. Robilliard. An application for a football from the Hinds School was granted. A similar request from Greenstreet waa held over. The chairman reported that the Ellesmere Sub-Union had suggested July 19th as the date for the Southbridge Shield match. The suggestion was not entertained, tho date being considered too lato in the seasson, and the match would be played too close to the Sub-Union's matches and Canterbury representative games. The Canterbury Union was communicated with by telephone and fixed July 4th as the dato for the match. Invitations were extended to Malvern to play the annual representative match on June 27th, and to tho Mackenzie Sub-Union to play an Ashburton County B team at Ashburton on July- 4th. A protest was received from the Old Boys* Club a-gainst the awarding of a try in the senior match against Hinds last Saturday. The letter stated that tho player went out and the line umpire raised his flag before tho referee the try. The referee (Mr A. Scott) wroto that after he had given , his decision the line umpire Tan down tho goal line and r>ut up his flag. After a ?reat deal of discussion, the pro-. test was disallowed. It was stated that the Union would probably not offer any objection to Old Boys taking the matter as a test case to the Canterbury and New Zealand Unions. It was resolved to play three rounds in tho senior and third grade competitions. The Union reserved the right to order any matches of special interest in the third round to be played on the Showgrounds. LATEST ALL BLACKS. MATCH WITH 1924 TEAM. (press association telegbam.)
