■The chairman welcomed the president of tho Canterbury Industrial Association, and said that until recently they had not been able to congratulate themselves on having the co-opciatiou of the Association. Jho committee would be benefited, by the co-operation of tho Association. As Mr Holiord had another engagement, and wished to give seme information, ho asked him to address tho committee. Mr G. H. Holford said that MarllArough had got busy and had tlicir full quota of money and the same applied to Wcstland. Tho most urgent matter in respect of tho 'Canterbury exhibit was the grain difplay, in. respect of which it was necessary that they should get busy, «s was not much left in slack. He noted that the Otago 'court had obtained the loan of refrigerating machinery, but he did not know what tho Exhibition authorities had done in tho matter of providing similar machinery for other exhibitors. He had spoken to Mr jFbweraker, of the School of Forestry, who had willingly offered any assistance. Ho suggested that Ashburton should undertake to provide, grain and *eeda; Timaru, wool; and arrangements should be made with the Canterbury Fruitgrowers' Association for an exhibit of fruit. Southland had'"got a plsn prepared of its court. Mr Tisdall, of Christchurch, had offered to assist the Canterbury Committee in respect of an exhibit of deer and trout. If a, duplicat-a of the model of Lyttelton harbour sent to Wembley was available, it would be a valuable addition lp the court. Ho suggested that there should bo » map of Canterbury depicting its hydpo-elcctric and other resources of tha province. Tho chairman said that tho matters referred to by Mr Holford, not already in hand, would receive attention.

Mr Marrincr, in acknowledging the chairman's welcome, Baid that i-no industrial Association was now whole-heartedly working for tho success oi' the Exhibition. Ha had seen recently tho Exhibition buildings, which wero impressive and very roomy. Tho provincial courts wore talking up much more space than was origirudly anticipated: the secondary industries hall was nearly filled. Ho had enquired into tho rumour that tho Dunedin hotels intended to double their tariff during the Exhibition period and found that it was incorrect: ono hotel (which had spent £20,000 on renovations and refurnishing) was going to charge 25s per dayj the other hotels would charge from 20s down to 10s.

On the chairman's motion, Mr Marriner's name was added to the Space and Exhibits Committee,

The chairman and Mr Mulcock reported on their visit to Ashburton. Tho Ashburton people wanted to he represented 'in the matter of grain. Mr Mulcock thought that Ashburton should iako a leading part in the matter, but North Canterbury should be lepresentei also.

The chairman reportod on the successful result of the deputation to the City Council regarding: finances, and said that he had communicated with chairmen and prominent members of local bodies on the subject, but had not received any replies. Mr Sutton, Mayor of Lyttelton, asked to what extent Lyttelton was expected to contribute to the committee's finance". The- chairman welcomed Mr Sutton to tho committee, and said that Lyttelton's contribution would .be £i9.
