Domestic reindeer in Alaska . arc now worth £.310,000 more than the United States paid to Russia in 1867 for the entire territory. The industry now numbers about 350,000 reindeer, of which 235,000 are owned by natives. The deer supply to their owners not only food and clothing, but a livelihood also, and can be found from the Arctic to the pacific. Already reindeer venison is appearing frequently in high-class restaurants and dining cars of the North-West of the United States, and its general use will soon be'merely a matter of transportation.
For 88 years Mr "William Kobinson has lived at No. 88 High street, Mansfield Woodhouse (Notts.), tho home of his father and grandfather. He is tho father of the Mansfield circuit of Primi tive Methodism, which celebrates its centenary this year. During his 70 years as a local preacher he has travelled 12,000 miles, chiefly on foot, and has delivered more than 5000 sermons. As the oldest local preacher, he attended the May meetings of Notts District .Synod at Mansfield. His name heads the list.of 50 lay preachers in the Mansfield circuit.
