NORTH BEACH NOTES.
Tho members of the New Brighton Borough Council paid a visit of inspection to the North Beach end of tho borough on Saturday afternoon. . The first roads inspected were the boundary roads of the, borough on tho nprthwest and north., Travelling along {Racecourse road, they turned aside and inspected the corner recently purchased for road widening purposes at the junction oi Jubilee avenue Marriott's road and Saltairo street. The need for scoria on the new portion of road was here apparent. .The next stop was made at Beach road, where a largo sum of "loan" money has lately been spent. Tho .work has now been stopped pending *• moro satisfactory arrangement with the Waimairi County. The, next place visited was the Esplanade 1 between Beach road and Pacific road. Here there is'necessity for protection from sand drift preparatory to road formation being undertaken. . From there .the party proceeded to view the site of a proposed subdivision, after which. the concrete work of the drains was inspected. The necessity for the gap in the track through the_ Bawhiti Domain being clayed was pointed out by one of the North Beach representatives, as was also the necessity of extending the Esplanade as far as sufficient protection from sand drift exists. The party then visited the Council stables in the Domain, wEero it is proposed to do some track formation to expedite the going and coming of the Council dravs. That completed the North ach portion of the inspection, but a* a result it is hoped that some much needed work will bo done.
