MILLION POUND SALE.
LORD DERBY'S ESTATES
1»Y - CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, Juno 7. A factor in Lord Derby's proposal to sell to the Liverpool Corporation his interests in Bootle, which came into the. possession of the present family during the 18th century, is that many of the leases are for 999 yews, and it is a question whether .the Corporation would be- wise to invest in ground rentß which cannot increase in value for 1000 vears.
Lord Derby a month ngo sold practically all his property in South-East Lancashire, covering 5000. acres in Buiry, Manchester, and Salford, to Mr S. H. Green. It is rumoured that the salo yielded £1,000,000. The Bury estates have been in possession of the Stanleys since the Battle of Bosworth, in*l4Bs, when Stanlpv forsook Richard and sided with i-te-riry VII., and was rewarded with the lands of Lancashire families who sided with Richard. ,
