A strnng murder mystery is reported in a big Mayfair mansion. Edward Rix, butler to.Sir George Lloyd, the new High Commissioner of Egypt, was found dead in a basement bedroom with his bead battered in by a 'hatchet. Several things were stolen. There was evidence of a severe struggle, yet six servants in. the house heard 'nothing. The murderer took off his boots and went away in Rix's boots, ieaying his own. , • The police broadcast a message to Arthur Bishop, aged 17, formerly "boots" in the house, asking him to assist their 'enquiries.
