BACHELORS' BALL AT HORORATA.
The bachelors of., the district held their annual ball in the Hororata Town Hall on Friday night, when about one hundred and fifty couples ■ danced to the spirited music supplied by the Glenata Orchestra. The hall was effectively decorated in the bachelors' colours, mauve and green. Festoons of streamers hanging, front an inverted Japanese sunshade in the centre gave a delightful overhead effect. The walls were decorated with ferns and evergreens. The supper room decorations were carried out in pink with overhead streamers and bowls of pink chrysanthemums on the tables. The duties of M.C.'s were efficiently carried out by Mr Jones and Mr J. Rear-' don. The ' catering for supper . THE MYSTERY MOVIE BALL.
. The following is the programme of' events at to-night's Mystery -Movie j Ball. Because many people do not arrive at a ball until later than the commencing time/ the first spectacular fea- j turo will not be staged- until 9.30, although dancing will commence at 8 o'clock sharp. Then, at 9.30 will come the Mystery Tango, danced by a masked couplo, whom tne company will be asked to identify on their "Mystery Cards." At'lo'p.m.' will come the Cabaret number, "Dancing at 'That Moving Picture Ball," given by a bevy of pretty "Mack Sennett" girls. Every,body is specially requested to join in the chorus of this number, which will be continued by the orchestra for general dancing after the number. . At 10.30 will come the judging of the costumes. At 11.15 a tableau -will bo presented, representing the title of a motion picture, and the company are asked to nil this in on their Mystery Cards also, and then place the latter in the "receptacle that will, be provided on the edge-of the stage as soon after as may be, in order that the prize may be presented at midnight. A surprise" of a very simple character is- timed for that "witchuig hour," and the presentation of all prizes will then take place. At 12.30 another .specialty dance will be given, and this will conclude the feature programme. Buffet supper-will be served from 9.30 till 11 o'clock. The caterer will only admit to the 6upper-room as many as can be efficiently served at one time— and to facilitate these arrangements patrons are requested not to leave the important matter of obtaining refreshments to the last minute.
