ELECTORAL ROLLS.
DISSECTION OF FIGURES. INCREASE IN SUBURBS. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) ' WELLINGTON, June 8. A dissection of the figures obtained as a result, of the compulsory registration under the' legislation passed last session disclosed that'the total names so far do not exceed the number on the rolls at the 1922 election, but it expected that later returns willoshow that has resulted in considerable additions. Keturns are still coming in from many of the seventysix .electoral districts in the Dominion. The total recorded at April 20th was 679,37b', compared with 700,111 in 1922. Since then', up to May 15th, 12,304 additional registrations ' have been received. 1 A feature of the returns is the disclosure of the drift of population from cities to suburban areas, owing to' their growing popularity for residential purposes, and the steadily increasing requirements of commercial and in* dustrial concerns in city areas. AH the Christchurch electorates show decreases in the number of registrations, and in the Dunedin group only one, Dunedin South, has an increase. Most of the Wellington and Auckland city and suburban electorates show increases. Following are the details for the city areas, -the current year's figures being compared with those of 1922: —
