AUSTRALIAN SEAMEN.
♦ —■— PROPOSED NEW UNION. (BY CABLE—PP.EBS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTEALIAN AND N.Z. .CABLE ASSOCIATION.) SYDNEY, June 8. Steps are being taken to form a new seamen's union. The movement is being fostered by Thomas Campbell > one of the original crew of the steamer Fordsdale, who was indefinitely suspended from membership of the Seamen's Union wr?*n the vessel completed the round trip. Campbell is bitterly opposed to the methods of Tom Walsh, Jacob Johansen, Fleming, and others. The shipping companies intend to observe the same conditions as , previously now that the union is deregistered. . No trouble has occurred so 'far in Sydney, and all ships are sailing at duo times.. ~ : , At Melbourne the Wyandra was delayed a few hours, and the Cooma, at Brisbane. wa,s- held up owing to four firemen being-missing.
