~ ANNUAL MEETING. ■ •T'l'h'e seventh annual general meeting of tho Canterbury Justices of the Pcaco Association was held last night. In the ! -absence of tho president, Mr E. ,C. Bishop) through ilWss, tho vice-presi-dent, Mr C. H. Gilby, was voted to the chair. Apologies wore received from ' Messrs H;, Herbert Smith, W,. H.. Seed and F. H. Christian... 1 Messrs-Mayer and Kean, Wellington, . wroto that tho new medallion was well in hand and a supply would be availablo shortly. '• . ' ... A vote of sympathy was passed with Mr E. C. Bishop in his illness, and a hopo expressed, for his speedy restoration to health.- • The report and balance-shoot, which have been published,.were adopted. y Tho election of officers resulted as follows':-—Patron, .his Honour Mr Justice Adams; vice-patrons, Messrs H. Y. Widdowson, 5.M.,,W-yvr.rn Wilson, S.M., and Henry Holland; president, Mr E. C 'Bishop; vice-presidents, Messrs C. H. Gilby, H. Herbert Smith and A. Williams; lion, solicitor, Mr S. E. McCarthy; council, Messrs Jas. Anderson, F. H. Christian, Geo. E. Franklin, 11. F. Herbert and A. H. Hobbs.; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. K. Brunt; hon. auditors, Messrs Alfred Marshall and J. Mawson Stewart. , . < It was moved by Mr W. E. Simcs and I carried, that it bo a recommendation to the executive that it bring before tho Minister of Justice that it is prepared to-.offer its services to tho Minister of Justice or the Senior .S.M. to advise with ! reference to names' submitted to tlw Minister as possible, Justices of tho Peace. On) the motioniofMr H. Holland.the Council was accorded-a hearty voteof thanks for its services during the past year. •
