PROFESSOR'S RESIGNATION
COMPLAINTS OF ATTACKS. Professor Coleman Philhpson, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Adelaide Univcrsitv, discussing the reasons of bis resignation recently, said that he intimated to the Council that certain attacks made upon him caused his chief. wish to tender his resignation. lie wished to return t 0 England, to continue rcser.rch work and complete the material fori two books. He was also anxious to resume practice at the Bai. He had come to Adelaide on the understandinr' that he would be admitted to the South Australian Bar; but as th« University Council objected, he bad given way. . , ■» The professor said that the crux d the whole matter was his willingness to give private tuition to one or two backward students, ..to which the Council objected.
