"VIVE LENIN!"
A REMARKABLE SCENE FRENCH MINISTER INSULTED. (BY CABLE—HtESS ASSOCIATION—- COITRIOHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) PARIS, June 5. A remarkable scene occurred at the opening of the Russian section of the Industrial Arts Exhibition, to which M. Demonzie, French Minister of Publio Instruction, was invited. While touring the exhibits, M.. Demonzie and his wife were suddenly confronted" with a crowd of Soviet sympathisers, who shouted "Vive les Saviets!" and "Vive Lenin!" followed by cries of "Give up Morocco 1" and the singing of the "International." M. Demonzie, irritated, turned to M. Krassin and said: This is unlikely to help the rapprochement between our countries very much. I was invited to attend an artistic manifestation, not a political demonstration. I have been trying to carry on the work of pacification for six years, and this has upset it all. '
Then, bowing to Madame Krassin, M. Demonzie and his party left, in spite of 11. Krassin's pleading with them to remain for the reception.
