;T MR;- '<£.!■ Ity- 'FLOWER HONOURED. PRESENTATION FROM OLD BOYS. A gathering of Old Boys iof Christ's College was held on Saturday night to bid' farewell to Mr A. E. Flower, first assistant at the College, who leaves this week on an eight months' holiday trip to America and England. Mr and Mrs Flower leave 'to-morrow for Auckland, and they will go to Vancouverby the Aorangi, which sails on May I:2th. They expect to be back in time for the first term in 1926. Mr G. T. AVeston, president of the Old Boys' Association, and also a mem j ber iof the College Board, of Governors, presented Mr Flower with a return ticket to England, and also a substantial contribution towards the travelling expenses of Mrs Flower. In doing so, Mr Weston stated that Mr Plower had been connected with the College for avery long time, it being 39 years this month since he became a scholar there. Ho- had always taken a great interest in both school work and sports, especially football. • Mr Flbwer thanked the Old Boys and friends of the school. He said that hehad a definite programme of visits to American, Canadian, and English Universities and schools, and also chemical works. (Mr Flower is.a specialist in science.) He hoped he would by,that means derive great benefits from the trip and come back with a fitting Knowledge for many more years of work at the College. Mr Flower gave some reminiscences to show how the point of view of a schoolboy changes with eca* year of schooling, until as an" old boy he finds bow mash he owes to his College, and endeavours to express, his gratitude.. ■ V Among those present were Mr and Mrs' G.
