PRINCE OF WALES.
♦- arrival at cape town. (b V CKBIX —PKESB ASSOCIATION —COriBIGBT.) (austeAuah and n.z. cable association.; CAPE TOWN, April 30. Tho Prince of Wales arrived to-day, and was enthusiastically welcomed. The crowds are not noted for demonstrative enthusiasm, but it is generally admitted that the Prince's welcome far surpasses anything previously experienced. The illuminations are on a scale hitherto unknown. The principal streets are a dense mass, Europeans, blacks, and Indians mingling in the common enthusiasm.
It was remarked during the. morning that tho Prince's famous smile was-not so much in evidence as usual, but his demeanour and affability generally made the happiest impression. Undoubtedly the long-looked-for visit has commenced under most favourable auspices. The Prince was installed as Chancellor of Cape Town University.
