"SAFETY" SLOGANS.
Safety slogans, as a rule, are solemn, depressing, and terrifying, but occasionally a lighter vein is introduced. Some that recently have come to the attention of the- Automobile Club of Southern California are clever and punchy. A sarcastic railroad man in the East suggests to careless motorists: "Bitter Btop a minute than forever." Not to be outdono, a locomotive engineer offer*: "Try running into one of our locomotives. They satisfy." "When you meet with a fog 80 donse that the glare of the head-lights reflects back light like a white blanket and the dimmed lights alone arc not enough to show the grass edge of the road, a slight improvement can be mado by throwing the headlight bulbs slightly out of focus, according to the American "Automobile Digest." Instead of concentrating the beams to attain, a sharp penetrating light, adjust to obtain r. shallow, flaring, spreading beam whirl, wiil ahow up Ihe side of the road and do away with much of the glare-back from the impenetrable fog bank. ~
