The annual meeting of the Temuia and Geraldine branch of the N.Z.E.S.A. was held on Tuesday evening, Major D. White presiding over a fair attendance. It was decided that a letter of sympathy be sent to Minister in his present illness. The annual report was submitted; and an examination of the balance-sheet showed receipts to bo £205 16s 2d, while the expenditure amounted to £248 18s 7d, leaving a deficit'on the year's. working of £43 2s sd. The assets in of liabilities stand at £287 12s 7d. Tho following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Major D. White; vicepresident, Mr J. Maze; treasurer, Mr J. S. GERALDINE. At the Methodist Church on Sunday, the Harvest Thanksgiving services were well attended, and on Wednesday,.the, Harvest sale was held, when the stall holders were as followsi:—Plain work, Mesdames Loach, Grayburn, and Fyfe; indoor produce, Mesdames Undrillj W. Mr Downer, who has received notice of his transfer from the position of postmaster at Waimate to a similar position at Gore, was given a hearty farewell in the Post Office building. A presentation was made to Mr Downer, of a volume of Shakespeare. At the annual meeting of the Star Hockey Club, the following officers were elected:—Patron, Dr. Wylie; president, Mr T. Mitchell; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames W. Evans, S. J. Adams, Swan, McFie, arid Messrs W. Evans, Childs, J. Bitchener, G. Sadler, D. Newel!, H. Smith, P. Swan, C. Smith, J. Denchward, E. S. Mills, and Lash; captain Miss M. Evans; vice-captain, Mrs Kaan; treasurer, Miss M. Kilworth; secretary, Miss J. Paul. An enthusiastic meeting of Scotchmen gathered in the Pipe Band hall on Wednesday, with a view, to forming a local Scottish society. A strong committee was formed, and the following officers were elected: Chief, Sir Thomas MacKenzie; president, Mr>' W. G. Paul; vice presidents,"Messrs A. RCooper and F. Pollock; secretary, Mr J. A. Neely; treasurer, Mr J. MacKenzie. It was decided to oame the body the Waimate Scottish Association, and that a series of monthly meetings be held. The results of the dog trials, class one, are: Head, bring back and yard, It. A. Dixon's Don Junior, first; E. Dunstan's Tweed, second; G. Keefe's Tui Junior, third; E. Davis's Tara Jack, fourth; A. Aubrey's, Reef, fifth; G. Keefe's Spring, sixth. Twentyseven dogs competed.
