At the inquest on Cliye Tweeddale,. aged 22, who died of injuries received, from being knocked down by a motorcar on Monday evening, evidence showed that the man was deaf, and failed to observe the approach of a motor-car whose lights were dimmed on approaching a railway crossing. The visibility was bad and the motorist, who was on the look-out for a train, did not see Tweeddale until he was upon him. The. Coroner commented that it was a pure accident. The motorist was driving carefully. He stressed the .need of the public exercising caution while crossing the road, especially at night.
