LONDON, April 'AS.
The report of the Auditor-General on tho trading departments of the Government for the year ended March 31st, 1924, show s that tho "Wheat Comm-js-sion's net loss was £138.000,000, representing approximately the cost oi the brcad.subsidy.
The subsidy on home-grown timber supplies involved a loss of £6,£00.000.
The loss on trade in zinc concentrates was over £2,000.000. There was an increase during the year of £380,000 in the reserve, and £750.000 was provided to meet losses in 1923 T 2-i, concerning which, it is commented that it is impossible to forecast what the ultimate loss on this service will be, but tiie provision of £750,000, though sufficient at present, is likely to fall considerably below the ultimate losses en the contracts with the British smelters.
