A similar gang previously slashed Kent from hand to elbow- with razors.
A sensation occurred during the trial at a Polish Ccnrt of 7d Communist terrorist agents, who were proved to have received subsidies from the Soviet legation at Warsaw. M. Hofmokl. defending counsel for t»o of the Communists, suddenly whipped out a revolver and tired six shots at a Polish lieutenant a witness for the prosecution. During the ensuing disturbance the accused tried to escape, but the police and witnesses prevented them. Hofniokl was arrested.
In connexion with the death of Mrs Richard Lenthall. who was found in her home at Maryborough. Queensland. with her throat cut with a razor, and died i" hospital, a fisherman named Thomas, who lives next door, has been detained hv the police, whose statement is that Thomas, who has been in indifferent health for some time, had several slight quarrels with his wife. Anparontlv the dead woman sympathised with Mrs Thoma.-. Thomas spoke to Mrs Lenthall over the back fence am! then went through with a razor in his hand. Mrs Lenthnll's throat **> frigbtt'ullv gashed and she died in a few' minutes. Another neighbour witnessed tho deed.
