Presented to Hastings by General Murray, who was present at the fall of Quebec in 17.59, the shield taken from the city's gates is to be returned to Quebec by the Hastings Corporation. In recent years many unsuccessful attempts have been made to persuade Hastings to give up the trophy. Now the decision has been made, following letters from the High Commissioner and the Mayor of Quebec. Viscount \Villingdon will act as a special emissary from Hastings to convey the trophy to Canada and hand it over to the Quebec City Council
