HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The Canterbury Horticultural Society met lust' night, Mr K. M. Burr occupying the chair in the absence of the president, Mr E.'-E. Wiltshire. Mr R. J. Christensen, a well-known member of the Society, exhibited a , magnificent specimen of the Lord Allcnby rose. The roso, which had been grown in Mr Christensen's garden, was bright red in colour, of •splendid shape and faintly perfumed. It was in full bloom. The resignation of Mr "W. G. C. Beumelburg, treasurer of tho Society, was accepted with regret. The president and the secre-' tary were empowered to carry on the business o! treasurer until the annual meeting. It was decided to adhere to the scheduled dates of the chrysanthemum show, which is set down for April 30th nnd May Ist. It wa3 agreed to enlist the aid of lady members to run stalls in connexion with the forthcoming show.
